Broiled Cauliflower
Recipe by Mark "Guido The Gardner" ® Ferro
March 2000

The most common method of cooking this most common vegetable is to steam it, which you will do some of anyway in this recipe, by the way. But broiled cauliflower has a more robust flavor than just steaming, or worse ...boiling!

  • Break apart a head of cauliflower into florets and wash under cold running water.
  • Steam until slightly tender, 3-4 minutes.
  • Put them on a broiler pan, brush with softened butter or olive oil and dust with Parmesan cheese and paprika if desired.
  • Broil until they brown.

Cauliflower actually takes well to bold spices. For a different twist, dust with a combo of tumeric, ginger, cumin or even red chili powder.
